Frequently Asked Questions.

DOES IT HURT?
Piercing can be a little uncomfortable rather than painful and will only last a few seconds.

CAN I BRING MY OWN JEWELLERY?
Due to metal specifications and hygiene reasons, this is not possible.

DO I HAVE TO BE PIERCED WITH A RING?
We offer an extensive range of studs, barbells and rings in various colours and styles to choose from.

WHY IS IT BEST IF I HAVE EATEN?
If you are looking to have a piercing and have not eaten within 4hrs prior, it is likely that you will have a low blood sugar level. This can make you a little more likely to suffer dizziness and sometimes fainting.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO HAVE A PIERCING?
Ear piercing is available from 13 years old if you are accompanied by your OWN parent or legal guardian. All other piercings will be 14 years+ with your OWN parent present or 16 years+ with valid identification. There are certain piercings which have an 18 years+ restriction such as Genitals, Nipple, Tongue and Micro dermal implants.

HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN CHANGE THE JEWELLERY IN MY PIERCING?
It is recommended to keep the initial piercing jewellery in for the minimum healing time (See Healing Times), as removing it before this can result in various issues such as aggravation, infection and the loss of the piercing itself. It is therefore advisable to check with work/school to ensure that your chosen piercing is permitted.

HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN GO SWIMMING?
Swimming pools are a hot bed for bacteria so unless a waterproof dressing is worn, it is advisable to give the piercing the minimum healing time to avoid the risk of infection.

CAN I STILL GO TO THE GYM?
Yes. Do take into consideration potential aggravation of the piercing site. If you are doing an exercise that feels uncomfortable, it is best to use a modifier or put it off for a few days.

CAN I HAVE A SPRAY TAN OR SUNBED?
Unless the piercing is well healed, a spray tan is not recommended as there is an increased risk of infection. Sun-beds should be fine if the heat factor is taken into consideration.

WHAT IF I AM GOING ON HOLIDAY SOON?
Refer to the above.

CAN I HAVE A PIERCING WHILE PREGNANT?
During pregnancy the immune system is weakened and more susceptible to infection, therefore we do not pierce during pregnancy.

WHAT IF I AM TAKING MEDICATION?
Medications such as Warfarin or Aspirin which have a blood thinning effect can make piercing problematic due to excessive bleeding. If you are on medication it is avisable to check with your GP first.

WHAT IF I AM A DIABETIC?
Having a piercing should not be a problem if you have good control of your blood sugar levels. Healing times will be affected.

MY PIERCING SEEMS TO HAVE A SMALL BUMP OR SPOT APPEAR?
This is probably nothing to be too concerned about but it is best to see your body piercer.

I’VE HAD MY PIERCING FOR A WHILE BUT IT HAS JUST BECOME SORE?
It is not uncommon for established piercings to become problematic from time to time.
